The   official   Marriage  preparation programme in the Hamilton Diocese for couples planning to marry in the Catholic Church.

Lovers for Life  is  offered as a seven session programme, usually run over seven weeks, with trained facilitator couple(s). Each session lasts approximately two hours  and  builds  on  the  previous session.

As the preferred programme is held over seven weeks, it is preferable to enrol early so  that  couples can participate fully without the distraction of last minute wedding details.

Part 1: Who am I?  Who are We?

1. •How our upbringing influences our meaning of  Christian love,  and developing respect for ourselves and one another through sharing.
   

Part 2: Communication

1. •The importance of communication within a relationship.
   

Part 3: Dealing with Conflict

1. •The normality and vitality of conflict in a good relationship.
   

2. •How conflict occurs and how to use it as an opportunity for growth in a relationship.
   

Part 4: Sharing our values

1. •Partners share each others values, beliefs and attitudes.
   

Part 5: Marriage in the Catholic Church

1. •Discussion on what church means to the individual.
   

2. •Interfaith marriages.
   

3. •The role of marriage in the Church.
   

Part 6: Sexuality

1. •What is sexuality?  A positive Christian approach.
   

2. •Significance of freedom and equality in sexual relations through Natural  Fertility.
   

Part 7: Celebration

1. •The value of continuing courtship after the wedding day. 
   

2. •Review and celebration.
   

Cost

1. •$50 per couple.
